Summer is the time for Nature Journeys at Riveredge. Nature Journeys offer a series of camp experiences for youth, teens, and families designed to connect people with the natural world in a deep and meaningful way by building on skills and awareness from one camp to the next. Each Nature Journey engages campers in unique outdoor explorations while also taking the time to journal to build a more intimate and reflective outdoor experience.
Our youth and teen Nature Journeys have taken the best of what we do to create a series of seven camps which build on one another from age group to age group. By connecting and building from Discoverers (3-4 years old), to Pathfinders (5-6 years old), Trailblazers (completed grades 1 or 2), Explorers (completed grades 3 or 4), Guardians (completed grades 5 or 6), Stewards (completed grades 7 or 8), and finally to Questers (completed grades 7 to 10), we hope that these new Nature Journeys will make a more profound and deeper impact in the lives of the campers who join us. Interaction with other campers and with our highly qualified staff of educators at 12 students to one teacher (or less) allows each student to receive individualized instruction. Our goal is to give campers tools and strategies they can use to continue to explore the wonder of our natural world throughout their lives.
Our Family Adventure Nature Journeys are a set of outdoor trips designed for children 10 and over accompanied by at least one parent. The purpose of these trips is to provide opportunities for parents and children to spend time with one another in the beauty of the natural world.
All of the Nature Journeys curricula are based on sound educational and learning. Campers will participate in hands-on explorations as they ask questions about the mysteries of the natural world, uncover evidence at their fingertips, and draw conclusions based on personal experiences. |
