WHO:

| Children K5 - 8th grade in fall of 2012.
A grand prize winner and one winner from each of the following age groups will be selected: Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and Combined (two or more author/illustrators).

| WHAT: |
|
Children in grades k5 through 8th, in the fall of 2012, are invited to write and illustrate a story in picture book format that is nature themed. The story may be fiction or non-fiction, should be no more than 750 words in length and can include up to 12 illustrations. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, story structure, grammar, and punctuation and overall appeal to the judges.

Entries should be submitted with a completed entry form by OCTOBER 15, 2012, to Riveredge Nature Center, PO Box 26, Newburg, WI 53060-0026.
Entry forms may be obtained at Riveredge or online.

| PRIZES: |
The Grand Prize Winner will receive $250 savings bond. First prize winners in each category will receive a $50 gift certificate to Next Chapter Bookshop and a bound copy of their book. All entries will receive a certificate of participation and their stories will be on display at Riveredge Nature Center.

| GUIDELINES: |
- Entries should be written in picture book format
- with no more
 than 750 words, 12 illustrations and have a nature theme.
- Entries should be illustrated with the authors original artworks (no licensed, trademarked or brand-name items). Artwork should not be computer generated.
- Use one side of each 8 ½ x 11 inch paper. Keep writing separate from artwork.
- Text may be typed, computer generated or handwritten.
- Do not bind the pages; use paper clips only.
- Organize pages and place in an envelope or folder. Number pages lightly on the back.
- Include a completed entry form.
- Entries not conforming will be disqualified.
- Collaborations are acceptable but participants will only receive one award.
