During this exciting, fun-filled week campers will learn how to travel and survive in the wilderness. The Guardian camp focuses on teaching essential outdoor skills such as fire making, water collecting, shelter building and camp crafts. These skills help to build self-confidence and deepen the campers’ appreciation of the natural world. We’ll practice orienteering with a compass and hand-held GPS unit, and maybe discover geocaches along the way. Campers in Sessions 1 & 3 will spend a day at Sandy Knoll County Park, looking for more geocaches and splashing in the water. Campers in Session 2 will explore an underground world in an off-site cave spelunking field trip. To top it all off, there will be a campout on Thursday night at our primitive camp complete with tipi, fire pit and survival shelters!
